Just as individuals must be personally responsible for the decisions we make and the actions we take, corporations should face real consequences when they cause needless financial or personal harm.
In Texas, responsible corporations that play by the rules and pay heed to the safety of their employees, customers, and neighbors are forced to compete with bad actors whose dangerous shortcuts are used to boost their bottom line. These socialized damages run afoul of the basic value of personal responsibility. After all, why should taxpayers, families, and good corporate citizens be forced to foot the bill for the consequences of reckless decisions made by dangerous corporate actors?
We need a new direction on legal reform. We need real legal reforms that help Texas families and small business owners – not corporate criminals like the big insurance companies, polluters, and Wall Street banks.
Instead of lobby-driven proposals to immunize corporate defendants, we need reforms that are designed to protect Texas families.
Write a letter to your legislators encouraging them to support strong corporate accountability protections to protect the lives and livelihoods of Texas families.
